About

FOR VISITORS…

Welcome to the course blog of Composition and Rhetoric I, Section A at Centenary University of New Jersey, taught by Erin Andersen. This is a space for students to answer questions posed each week as part of a multi-modal journaling assignment, as well as for them to post any other thoughts or questions they might have regarding the course. This is also where students can find course information (homework, readings, etc.)

FOR MY STUDENTS…

Reading should never be a passive experience. In order to encourage active reading, I’m asking you to post on this blog at regularly assigned intervals. This will also be helpful as we consider what it means to think consciously about our writing practices. On assigned days, I will post a topic or question(s) related to our readings upon which I’d like you to reflect in your post. You will act as an original poster once this semester (you can find the date for your OP here); for your other posts, you’ll need to comment on one of your peers’ posts. Your blog posts do not have to be particularly long, but I do want you to respond to whatever prompt I’ve posted completely and thoroughly. Remember that this is a blog, meaning that, while I’m expecting you to be respectful, I’m not expecting you to write in a formal fashion. This blog should be an outlet for conversation about readings and writings; so write in a conversational yet appropriate tone. Don’t be afraid to ask questions about things you don’t understand, and certainly don’t be afraid to comment on another person’s post if you’d like to add something to their thoughts or ask them a question. Images, video, audio, and links to other pages are also welcome in your posts. (Indeed, some prompts will ask you for these elements specifically.) The sky’s the limit, as long as you post on time.
