In the music video, Janelle talks about how others view her as a person compare to how she view her self. from watching the video, we the audience can clearly tell that she has a high self-esteem about her self. she does not care about all the negative comments others throw at her because she love herself just the way she is. she talks about how she work so hard and later be called greedy when she asks to be paid. this is pathos because it is emotional to me how she was being treated unfairly. I think the black and white signify equality among black and white people. the purpose of the song is to motivate people to be bold and be confident in your true self in a positive way. the song indicate about black lives matter, because it was release around 2013 the time blacks become defensive even more.
